Marin’s First Green Certified Salon

 

Renaissance House of Beauty became the first “green” certified hair and beauty salon in Marin County, California, with its certification by the Florida Association of Beauty Professionals (FAB Professionals) in March 2009.  Conserving energy, recycling and using eco-friendly products are our prime concerns.  We strongly believe that we can keep the health of our clients’ hair, skin and nails our top priority while doing more to preserve the planet.

What does being “Green” mean?
This means that we are being environmentally conscious about the products we use & retail, preventing excess waste and conserving energy & water. We are reducing our carbon footprint.

How are we doing this?

• Use natural products when ever possible, such as products without parabens, preservatives, artificial ingredients or colors. 
• Use low and non-ammoniated color products
• Use eco-friendly cleaning products
• Use energy efficient washing machines
• Use energy efficient lighting
• Use post consumer recycled retail bags
• Use post consumer recycled paper products (toilette paper, printer paper, paper towel rolls, hand towels & Kleenex)
• Recycle paper, magazines, color foils, color tubes, aluminum, plastic, glass, cardboard and more…
• Serve beverages in real cups & glassware
• Serve Organic Fair Trade teas and coffee
• Recycle ink cartridges and toner cartridges
• Mop us messes with cloth towels instead of paper towels
• Recycle discarded hair with Matter of Trust.org
• Send Email marketing. This uses less paper than letters & postcards
• Turn off electronic devices and lights when not in use
• Use timers and air/heat thermostatic controls
• Keep the water heater thermostat 120 degrees F
• Recycle clients’ old broken hair tools

• Innersence Organic Beauty (hair care) Organic certified biodynamic ingredients. Free of all synthetics and toxins including: sulfates, petroleum compounds, PEG, DEA, MEA, TEA , MIPA compounds, phthalates & parabens.
• GloMinerals (skin care)-Vegan, free of parabens, talc, fillers, perfumes & chemical dyes.
• Decleor (skin care)-Beauty based on natural ingredients Hydra Floral products: 100% paraben free.
• Paul Brown Hawaii (hair care)-Hapuna products: sulfate, paraben and sodium chloride free
